It was fast. Wasn’t as bad as I thought it was gonna be. Merging is tough. I don’t know why I feel a sudden need to type in short phrases. I’m listening to Peter Frampton right now. Life is good.

Merging is tough - but it will be fun. Use your skill to do it better than others - control the situation.

Once you get used to it, you may love it. One of the rare situations where you can play racecar without getting into trouble.

My fourth (and last) day of driver’s ed - my fourth time behind the wheel of a car! - was interstate day. Downtown Richmond has lots of merge lanes that feel like they’re only about 20 feet long and those cars were NOT fast. I grew up in the country and didn’t even have much experience as a passenger on an interstate. The whole experience was terrifying.

especially since the merge lanes just merge you into other exit lanes. Its a clusterfuck in the mornings near the convention center.

please remember that merging means getting to the speed of traffic before entering the interstate. Sadly 99% of americans dont get this simple rule and it makes me almost ass pack them when im merging behind them

Merging can be easy. As you saw in my video, you just have to haul ass ;)

I didn’t know for years, until I saw the second Matrix movie, where something about freeways being suicide was mentioned, that some folks don’t like or almost never drive on interstates and freeways.

I did remember that thankfully, but I encountered many people who were 20 MPH below the limit in the on-ramp. It’s very annoying.

I just need an on-ramp like that!!

My first time on an interstate was in western MD on a 3 lane strech of road in a ‘97 740iL with my Mom in shotgun and my Dad in the back seat. My Dad wouldn’t let me go over 65 and I was getting passed by 18-wheelers on both sides at the same time. And a 7 series feels about as wide as the lane when thats happening to you. Not a good first time.
